Food Safety

Our unyielding commitment to food safety begins with our trusted growers and suppliers that must comply with Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) to ensure the safest produce possible.

As the produce makes it way from the shipper or grower to our facility, we provide an unbroken cold chain. It is taken in a refrigerated truck, received into our refrigerated loading dock, and then stored in one of our temperature and humidity controlled coolers. Similarly, when it is time to be delivered to our customers, the produce is kept in our refrigerated trucks. Maintaining our products at the appropriate temperatures preserves shelf life and quality and is critical to any food safety program. 

Audits & Programs

In addition to continuous inspections by our Food Safety Team, we undergo annual audits by an independent third party inspector. Some of our additional food safety programs include:

Quality Control & Traceability

Our highly trained warehouse and quality assurance team thoroughly inspects all products upon arrival to guarantee quality and freshness. After product is received, our state of the art warehouse management system allows us to not only efficiently and effectively fulfill customer orders, but also enables us to maintain complete traceability. In the event of a product recall, Freedom Fresh can determine immediately if any of the implicated product has gone through the system and then identify and notify any affected customers.


SQF Certified

Freedom Fresh recently achieved Safe Quality Food Institute (SQF) Level II Certification with a score of 97% or "excellent". SQF Level II certification is the highest level a wholesale food distributor can achieve. SQF Level II certification is a certified HACCP food safty plan that is benchmarked by Global Food Safety Initiative. Freedom Fresh passed a series of stringest and rigorous tests in order to obtain this global standard for food safety. With today's consumers demanding increased food safety assurances and more consumer education on the food they are providing their families, Freedom Fresh willingly embarked on this certification process in order to provide our customers verifiable proof about our food safety systems and protocols.
